que la CIA asesinó Ex Jefe U.N.

Si usted pide a un típico americano acerca de las teorías de la conspiración, él o ella probablemente no tendría ningún problema para recitar una lista extensa de teorías que van desde el asesinato de Kennedy a 9/11. Pero si hay una conspiración potencial que la mayoría de los estadounidenses son totalmente inconscientes, es el supuesto complot de la CIA para matar al secretario general de la ONU Dag Hammarskjöld.

Dag había sido el secretario general durante ocho años, pero murió en un accidente de avión accidental en 1961, mientras se dirigía a una negociación de alto el fuego en el protectorado británico de Rhodesia del Norte. 

Sin embargo, en los últimos años, ha habido múltiples afirmaciones de que el avión fue derribado, y que en realidad estaba muerto en un intento de asesinato que involucró a una combinación de la CIA, una empresa minera belga, una unidad paramilitar de Sudáfrica, y la inteligencia británica . 

¿Por qué? 

Porque él estaba presionando para la independencia del Congo, lo que habría perjudicar los intereses de cualquiera de estas fuerzas.

Añadiendo combustible a las teorías, era una copia de un documento secreto del gobierno que surgió en Sudáfrica hace 18 años, lo que sugiere que la CIA, el MI5 y el gobierno de Sudáfrica estaban tras la muerte de Dag. 

Presentaron declaraciones de director de la CIA Allen Dulles, diciendo que "Dag se está convirtiendo en problemático ... y debe ser eliminado." Por desgracia los documentos originales no se pudo encontrar, así que no había manera de verificar las copias.

Pero el año pasado el gobierno de Sudáfrica afirmó haber encontrado el documento original, lo que ha llevado a la ONU a reabrir su investigación sobre la muerte de Hammarskjöld. 

La CIA, por supuesto, ha rechazado estas afirmaciones como "absurda y sin fundamento".

If you asked a typical American about conspiracy theories, he or she probably wouldn’t have any trouble rattling off an extensive list of theories ranging from the Kennedy assassination to 9/11. 

But if there’s one potential conspiracy that most Americans are totally unaware of, it’s the supposed CIA plot to kill UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjöld.

Dag had been the Secretary General for eight years, but died in an accidental plane crash in 1961, while en route to a cease-fire negotiation in the British protectorate of Northern Rhodesia. 

But, over the years, there have been multiple claims that the plane was shot down, and that he was actually killed in an assassination plot that involved some combination of the CIA, a Belgian Mining Company, a South African paramilitary unit, and British intelligence. 

Why? Because he was pushing for Congo’s independence, which would have hurt the interests of any of those forces.

Adding fuel to the theories, was a copy of a secret government document that surfaced in South Africa 18 years ago, which suggested that the CIA, MI5, and the South African government were in on Dag’s death. 

They presented statements from CIA director Allen Dulles, saying that “Dag is becoming troublesome … and should be removed.” Unfortunately the original documents couldn’t be found, so there was no way to verify the copies.

But last year the South African government claimed to have found the original document, which has led the UN to reopen their investigation into Hammarskjöld’s death. The CIA has, of course, has dismissed these claims as “absurd and without foundation.”
